Become a Volunteer
The volunteer work that we do is a massively important part of the work that the North West Kent Countryside Partnership carries out and we're always happy to welcome more volunteers onto our practical days. If you are interested in volunteering then please complete the simple form using the link below. A member of staff will then contact you directly.
We are delighted to have welcomed so many new volunteers over the summer months. Unfortunately this means that we are currently at full capacity. Please do still contact us if you are interested in volunteering, but be aware that you may have to wait until a space becomes available.
What does volunteering involve?
We carry out volunteer tasks twice a week on Wednesdays and Thursdays and occasionally at weekends. Some examples of the projects we do include:
- Hedgelaying
-
Coppicing
-
Creating nature areas in schools
-
Footpath improvements
-
Removing invasive species from our local rivers
-
Scrub clearance and grassland management
Why should I volunteer?
There are many benefits to volunteering on practical conservation projects. Here are just some:
-
Improve your health and help you to get fit
-
Meet interesting and like-minded people
-
Gain experience in conservation for a possible future career
-
Help to improve your local countryside
-
Learn more about wildlife and conservation
What happens on the project days?
We ask all volunteers to meet at our office in
Dartford on the morning of the project. A member of staff will then take all the volunteers to the site and work alongside you throughout the day. All the details will be explained and a full health and safety talk given before work begins. You can do as much or as little work as you want without any pressure and if you don't fancy coming out again, that's fine. Hot drinks, biscuits and all tools and safety equipment are provided and a member of staff will be there all day to help you out and answer any questions you have.
If you have any more questions about volunteering, then please contact us. We are more than happy to talk through any concerns you have and you can even come into the office for a cup of tea and a chat to discuss the volunteer days in more detail.
