North West Kent

Spring / Summer 2010.

Naturally Active took the lead on delivering multiple healthy Easter Egg Hunts in Dartford Park and Temple Hill. Children and Parents joined a treasure hunt looking for healthy food pictures, making fruit smoothies and making art pictures. Prizes included small Easter Eggs, healthy food and information gift bags.

As part of the North West Kent walking festival, Naturally Active ran a 7 mile walk along the Darent Valley. Despite a wet day we enjoyed a good turnout and had a very welcome stop for refreshment and a talk on the history of St John the Baptist church at Sutton at Hone.

We supported the Get Active event in Dartford Park on Saturday 26th June where we ran a walk around the park and Brooklands lakes followed by several games of disc golf. The day was also supported by the community chef, The British Heart foundation and the Healthy Living Centre Dartford.

Our regular walkers from the Dartford Temple have now been joined by a ladies group from the Milan Centre Dartford and are enjoying many beautiful and varied walks. We have also started work with a mens group from the centre where initial take up has been very high with participants keen to improve their fitness.

Simon and Jenny have now undergone 13 weeks of training to qualify them as NHS Health Trainers with the aim to provide a more holistic service to participants. During this time the Monday walkers from Temple Hill moved to a Wednesday where they have continued to enjoy scenic walks in warm weather. This group has now moved back to the original time on Monday leaving at 10am and is open to everyone. Should you wish to join us please call Simon or Jenny on 01322 294727.
